Serena Vittorini (1990, Italy) is a Brussels-based visual artist working across photography, installation, and film. Trained in psychology and photography, she examines how objects and spaces regulate affect and power — how material form prescribes posture, gesture, and proximity, and renders visible the ambiguity between care and control inscribed within them.
Her practice moves through the creation, arrangement, and displacement of objects and dispositifs — testing, photographically and spatially, the pressures they exert on bodies and the bodies they imply. These things carry histories of use; they quietly organize what is permitted near them. What interests her is the threshold where a supportive gesture and a constraining one share the same form — where the object alone holds the tension, and presence is felt through absence.
Grounded in the micropolitics of intimate life and drawing on relational theory, phenomenology, and critical thinking on power, she approaches what we live with not as symbols but as relational agents — sites where social norms and affective economies are absorbed before language intervenes.
